10 Awesome Old-School Video Games That Deserve HD Remakes
8. Castlevania: Symphony Of The Night
Since 1986, a Castlevania game has been released nearly every year (making it the Call of Duty of it's time) and every single one of those games fit into a timeline and game universe that is more convoluted than the timeline from the Legend of Zelda. Of all the games from the Castlevania factory line, Symphony of the Night remains the franchise's very best. Combining its own version of the side-scrolling RPG hybrid gameplay popularised by Metroid with a Gothic and vampire-filled game universe influenced by the Victorian era, Symphony of the Night was a stand out title in the dying days of 2D side-scrollers due to the grim and atmospheric castle-based game world, characters with surprising depth, and a killer soundtrack. The pieces are there for a timely HD remake, and given the fact that recent HD Castlevania games have been pretty rubbish, there is no reason as to why a remake of Symphony of the Night should not happen. Not only will it reinvigorate interest into the somewhat lagging series, but it could have the potential to be the next Braid in terms of quality and beauty. How refreshing and glorious would it be to explore Dracula's castle in all its HD glory? Since Metal Gear Solid V is about to be released, maybe Konami will now have time to take a look into remaking Symphony of the Night.
My life story is nothing special. I haven't cured ebola, I'm nowhere near stopping terrorism, and I'm still working on that climate change problem.
Instead, all I've done so far is put a few hundred words together in an attempt to make people laugh.
