10 Awesome Super Mario Fan Theories You Had No Idea Existed

4. Luigi's Mansion Is The End, Chronologically

How can Luigi be dead if he appears in later games in the series? Well, according to one particular theory, Luigi€™s Mansion is actually the last game in the timeline, the final chapter in the Mario saga.

Here€™s the evidence: in Luigi€™s Mansion, the player encounters Madame Clairvoya, who says €œThe scene appears before me......... Wh-what is this!? Bowser!? How can this be!? I see the hideous form of Bowser! Is Bowser somewhere in this mansion? I cannot believe it... And yet I see it... I thought that Mario had soundly defeated Bowser!€

Bowser, soundly defeated? As in, gone forever? Currently, Bowser has appeared in several of the most recent Mario games, including Super Mario 3D World, Mario Party 10, Super Mario 3D Land for the 3DS, and Super Mario Galaxy 2. If Bowser€™s been soundly defeated prior to the events of Luigi€™s Mansion, he would not have been able to appear in subsequent titles, what with him being dead and all that.

Equally, towards the end of the first game, King Boo gloats about his imprisonment of Mario, declaring himself pleased due to €œhow much trouble he has caused€, despite King Boo never having appeared in any Mario game prior to Luigi€™s Mansion. There€™s a Big Boo in Super Mario 64, and an entirely different King Boo in Super Mario Sunshine, but these aren€™t the same character, meaning that the King Boo from Luigi€™s Mansion is an all new addition to the franchise.

So, when exactly died Mario cause him all this trouble? Oh right. The future.
