10 Awesome Video Game Features That Came From Contest Winners

1. Robot Master Bosses - Mega Man Series

A hero is only as good as his villains, right? Without the Joker, Batman would just be an overly dour vigilante with pointy ears, and can you imagine how short the Sonic games would be if Dr. Robotnik hadn't left all those robotic roadblocks in the Blue Blur's path?

Mega Man is a series equally famous and beloved for its boss fights. The main series' Big Bad, Dr. Wily, is responsible for creating virtually everything Mega Man must fight against - and what he didn't create, he still manages to influence from time to time.

These are the Robot Masters, and, surprisingly, the vast majority of these wildly disparate enemies have been designed by contest winners ever since the franchise's second entry in 1988.

Literally dozens of winning submissions have made their way into the Mega Man canon over the years. Heat Man, Wood Man, Needle Man, Dust Man, Cloud Man...the list goes on.

Most notably, though, the contest held for Mega Man 6 was opened up to American fans as well as Japanese fans, and from that particular batch came the Robot Masters Wind Man and Knight Man.

With the original series still sporadically continuing to this day, will Capcom keep this long-running tradition of fan-made bosses running for the next eventual Mega Man game?
