10 Awesome Video Game Weapons You Never Got To Use
1. Cazavor - Prey
Arkane Studios' Prey is a strange beast even before you get into the game itself.
Following the 2006 game of the same name, featuring an astral projecting Cherokee mechanic abducted by aliens, Arkane Studios picked up the IP and released an unrelated game that follows a scientist using psionic powers to fight terrifying goo aliens. Also his gun can make stairs. Following so far?
Back office oddness aside, Prey 2017's examining of perception, free will and consciousness is an interesting thing to ponder as the story unfolds and, whilst you wouldn't expect a rifle of all things to embody this, hidden in the code is a weapon which does just that.
The Cazavor can best be described as a talking disc rifle that gradually becomes sentient as the game progresses. Starting with responses such 'Reloading' or 'Firing', the gun would gradually begin questioning its own existence and purpose, even going so far as refusing to fire.
Perhaps such a weapon would prove to be too frustrating for players, but as far as meta commentaries on the nature of free will in gaming go, it's certainly less heavy-handed than some attempts.
