Up until he saddled a bazooka on his shoulder in Warped, the early Crash Bandicoot games were not ones you would often associate with weapons. Once the orange marsupial got behind the wheel of a kart, however, all bets were off.

Much like Mario Kart before it, Crash Team Racing paired its fast paced race to the finish with various power ups and projectiles to wrong foot fellow racers, with these lucky pick ups often being the only thing between victory and defeat. Follow up Nitro Kart trod much the same ground, with a few extras thrown in, but one particular scourge of the race track would prove to be so devastating that it was cut from the release.

Making the infamous Blue Shell look like a bubble wand, Nitro Kart's Voodoo Doll would curse the racer in first place by shrinking them, slowing them down and distorting their turning whilst affording the user a speed boost. Although still lingering in the code, developers likely took one look at this balance breaking menace and opted to seal it away for the good of the gaming community, and throwable controllers everywhere.
