10 Awesome Video Games That Should NEVER Get A Movie

8. Fable

Red Dead Redemption - John Marston
Microsoft Game Studios

While the Fable games aren't in any way bad, they have a reputation for not living up to the hype that Peter Molyneux set, and generally not including half the features he said they would. Despite this, the open-world fantasy franchise does a lot right in terms of player freedom and choice, something a movie couldn't capture.

The idea of a movie is to present the audience with a set story that progresses, and characters that develop throughout. The issue with Fable being a movie is that the game allows players to do what they want, and this cannot really happen in a movie. The Fable games do have real storylines, but they work so well with the player being able to explore at their own rate, and develop their characters as they see fit.

Having a fantasy setting would also spark comparisons to the likes of Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones, which at this point is difficult to beat. The atmosphere of Fable works so well as an explorable video game, rather than a linear visual story, in the same way that Game of Thrones works as a serial show, and not so much as an open world video game.
