10 Awesome Video Games That Should NEVER Get A Movie

7. Grand Theft Auto

Red Dead Redemption - John Marston
Rockstar

Grand Theft Auto has always been iconic in the gaming industry for changing the way open world games work. That said, the franchise is so heavily built on crazy, off the wall moments that only really "work" because you're playing a video game.

While we have movies that do crazy, fun, weird action in their own way, none of them are comparable to the over the top intensity that Grand Theft Auto is capable of. Yes, the games have storylines, great characters, and well written scripts, but it's all glued together with the over the top gameplay.

The amount of violence and murder that goes on in the games isn't really suited to be in a movie, without being majorly toned down, which would of course, ruin the whole point.

While a gangster movie in the same style as Grand Theft Auto would be interesting to see, it could potentially ruin the reputation of the franchise to slap its name over a toned down, generic action movie. Unfortunately, a Grand Theft Auto movie that's in any way faithful to the games will never get made due to the high chance it'll get banned or cut down close to release.
