10 Awesome Video Games That Should NEVER Get A Movie
4. Saints Row
Saints Row started life as a Grand Theft Auto clone and quickly took on a crazier, weirder, funnier tone to separate itself from the rival franchise. With Grand Theft Auto being too over the top to make a movie of, it should come as no surprise that Saints Row suffers the same problem, only much worse.
While the games have good stories and characters for the most part, a lot of the appeal of Saints Row is the crazy humour and insane gameplay mechanics, like letting cars hit the player 100ft in the air and calling it insurance fraud. While humour can always be implemented into films, Saints Row's humour and gameplay go hand in hand, as so many of the jokes come from physically playing the game.
Another large problem that a film would run into is the main protagonist. One of the greatest parts of Saints Row is creating the playable character at the star. While they could look like a real President and wear a 3 piece suit, they could also be big, green, sound like a zombie and wear lacy underwear.
This ridiculous character creation tool is one of Saints Row's standout features, and something that a movie would have to completely ignore, which could singlehandedly ruin the experience.
