10 Awesome Video Games That Should NEVER Get A Movie
3. Candy Crush (Or Any Other Mobile Game)
What do you get when you mix a mobile game with very little story, and a 90 minute movie? You get Angry Birds: The Movie, which should be reason enough not to make feature films based on small mobile games.
Obviously Angry Birds only got the cinematic treatment due to the it being one of the biggest mobile properties of all time, and there being plenty of money to be made, but this doesn't mean that it should have happened.
Candy Crush Saga and other major mobile games do not have the potential to lead a feature length movie. Even the Emoji Movie tried to include Candy Crush and failed to make its big screen appearance interesting.
Lots of mobile games are great and work within their own little bubble. Sporting basic stories, simple graphics, and fun yet addictive gameplay, many mobile games just don't have the substance to stretch into a 90 minute movie. Sadly, the high value of some of the more popular mobile games will inevitably lead to more adaptations, and more disappointment.
There's even an Angry Birds Movie 2 coming soon.
