10 Awesome Video Games You Can't Play Anymore
4. Tetris (1989)
With a premise as simplistic as it is unbelievably addicting, Tetris was always bound to be a hit once it finally became popularized in the west with a port to the Nintendo Game Boy and NES. Developed by Alexi Pajitnov behind the iron curtain, the game went through numerous legal disputes before finally making its way to a mainstream audience in the US in the late 80s after being licenced to Nintendo.
In the years that followed, Nintendo allowed players to take a trip down memory lane by including emulated versions of the classic titles on its Virtual Console. This all changed after the Tetris Company signed a deal with Ubisoft in 2014, with official versions of both the NES and Game Boy ports being no longer available anywhere.
However, with the immense popularity of the battle royale phenomenon Tetris 99 seemingly signifying improved relations between the two companies, coupled with Nintendo continually adding new titles to the classic games service on Nintendo Switch Online, the revered puzzle games may still yet return one day.
