10 Awesome Video Games You Had No Idea Were Getting Movies
1. Super Mario Bros.
Humayun Ahmed is quoted as saying, "People do not want to move in a complete circle. But Nature forces them to complete the cycle, time and again." And hoo-boy is he right, apparently, because the first ever crappy video game movie is largely considered to be 1993's Super Mario Bros. And here we go again with a remake aimed for a release in 2022.
But the real question is... have we learned from our mistakes? One of the major issues with the first movie, claim some, is that Nintendo just handed the rights over and took little involvement in the film's actual development. But this is going to change, they say, with the new film. It will be an animated feature film, first of all - none of that wild and crazy live-action Mario sourness. Considering Bob Hoskins almost died and nearly lost several fingers during filming, that's great news for the cast.
Nintendo is getting their hands deep in development of the project, as well, claiming that Shigeru Miyamoto is personally involved in every step of development. However one must remember that Miyamoto's opinion on the original movie was that he regretted the film tried to be too close to the original source material.
Yes, that's right - the man behind the film believes that the original '93 movie was too close to the source material. Prepare for a wild ride through the mushroom kingdom, kids.
