There have been two major television series about Romance of the Three Kingdoms since 1994, totaling almost 200 episodes – not to mention numerous smaller-scale series, a handful of movies, and dozens of animated versions. RTK games, of which there are also plenty, often come in the form of strategy games such as Koei-Tecmo's titular series, the late '90s Dragon Throne games, and Creative Assembly's recently released Total War: Three Kingdoms. But the later years of the Han Dynasty have seen plenty of action games as well – and of them Dynasty Warriors is the most prevalent. So to debut in China later in 2019 will be a Dynasty Warriors movie.

Not an RTK movie, no this is actually based on the larger-than-life Dynasty Warriors series, including costumes, weapons, and fighting styles. Starring famed Chinese actors Wang Kai and Louis Koo, the latter of which nearly became an actual Xiahou Dun after suffering an eye injury on set – which would have been a real shame, since he's playing Lü Bu.

Originally filmed in late 2017, the movie has been undergoing massive CGI post-production, with the first trailer initially released in March of 2018. It still does not have a definite release date or any news on whether it will receive a western release, but there's little doubt the blue dragon will roar onto Chinese theater screens very soon.
