10 Awesomely Unconventional Ways People Beat Video Games

5. Spending 500 Hours Getting To Level 99 In The First Reactor (Final Fantasy 7)

Final Fantasy VII 507 hours and 32 minutes. That's how long it took the below player to leave the 1st Reactor in Final Fantasy VII with his party at Level 99. It's an achievement that so many people joke about, yet given the ridiculous level of commitment it requires, and as some might argue, the sheer stupidity of wasting your life doing it, very few have even bothered. The 1st Reactor is the first section of the game, the first area where you can fight enemies and, also, the first area where you can save, causing many to wonder how long it would take to continually fight in order to level up, saving periodically because it's such a mind-numbingly boring exercise. Of course, once those 507 hours were out of the way, every battle in the game, save for the last one, could pretty much be beasted through, even if such an approach would likely drain that play-through of much of its suspense and enjoyment. Still, it's unquestionably a barmy achievement, though one that many will struggle to understand the point of.
