6. Zombie Upgrades - Resident Evil Re:Verse

Superman Returns Game
Capcom

After Resident Evil Village raked in all the money, Capcom decided to implement extra modes, including a six-player online multiplayer called Re:Verse.

Although Re:Verse was hyped like crazy, it was hampered by its imbalanced characters, limited modes, minimal maps, agonising matchmaking issues, and ruthless micro-transactions. Even though this Resident Evil DLC was delayed for a whopping 18 months, nobody could understand why since it feels blatantly unfinished.

However, Re:Verse is worth checking out, purely to experience one aspect of the gameplay. After your character dies, you will mutate into a bioweapon, like Hunter Gamma, Jack Baker or Tyrant, giving you a second chance to attack enemies before respawning.

Rather than just smashing and skewering everything in sight, you need to collect virus samples to make your bioweapon character stronger, adding another layer of strategy to the gameplay.

It may be pure fan-service, but players will have no qualms with playing as Mr. X or Nemesis, since it's the only positive quality in an otherwise dreary game.

Resident Evil Re:Verse was a major misfire but it would be nice to see this tool return in the future.
