10 Awful Video Games With AWESOME Mechanics

5. Magnet Gun And The Nano Forge - Red Faction: Armageddon

Red Faction Armageddon tried to take the best elements from the previous entires, serving as a linear shooter like Red Faction I & II, while incorporating the destruction mechanics of Red Faction: Guerrilla.

Sadly, the finished product didn't come together. Most missions involve fighting swarms of aliens with little variety in cramped corridors and caves. And with Volition ditching the beloved PvP multiplayer, it's easy to see why Armageddon is considered the weakest entry.

Ironically, this instalment happens to have the most creative weapons. Firstly, there's the Magnet Gun, which is exactly what it sounds like. Firing this doohickey at two targets will cause one to be attracted to another, leading to all sorts of hilarious hijinks.

As addictive as the Magnet Gun is, it can't compare to the Nano Forge. This bad boy can unleash shockwaves, create shields, and charge up your other weapons.

Most importantly, this overpowered device can restore damaged structures. If the enemies blow everything to kingdom come, it shouldn't hinder your mission since you can use the Nano Forge to reform paths, walls, and stairs in an instant. Red Faction is renowned for its destructive environments, so this simple idea completely reinvents the gameplay.
