10 Beloved Cult Classic Video Games That Desperately Deserve Sequels

8. Battletoads

It has been said that Battletoads was actually a rip off of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Mega Drive titles but this couldn't be further from the truth. The game put you in the shoes of a team of muscly super toads who were on a mission to save their beloved Angelica and Princess Pimple from the clutches of the Evil Queen.

It sounds simple enough: smash your way through side scrolling, beat-em up heaven and embrace the madness of it all. However, video games don't become cult classics for being easy and a particular stage gave this title its very own USP.

Of course, I’m referring to THAT side scrolling, high speed Turbo Tunnel level that required the player to stretch their brain and reflexes to breaking point only to learn there’s a lot left to do before you even consider seeing Pimple and Angelica again. Imagine this frustration in the glorious HD a PS4/Xbox One sequel would offer - it has to happen and it has to happen soon.
