10 Beloved PS1 Exclusives That NEED To Come Back
6. Wild 9
Many people remember Shiny Entertainment as the folk behind the platforming antics of Earthworm Jim, or to a lesser extent, the darker action title MDK.
But before the former's terrible 3D debut, there was Wild 9. A 2D platformer in a 3D world that was just as mad and eccentric as we come to expect from a team like Shiny.
Instead of armed with a traditional gun or sword, our hero Wex had "the Rig": an electric lasso-thing that had you pick up enemies and knock the stuffing out of them until they broke.
It had every staple of the worm-in-a-suit gameplay: the platforming, the power-ups and collectibles, even down the 3D vehicle sections too.
It was peak Shiny, with its snappy dialogue, witty writing and funky soundtrack. So why did we never see any more of it?
Well, one of its criticisms was "it was too hard". Right, okay...
Yet by today's standards, a remake would be given the right treatment. People cite Crash's High Road as too hard, yet that sold gangbusters.
What I'm saying is, bring back some vintage Shiny platformers, as Earthworm Jim has jumped ship.
