10 Beloved Video Game Moments That Would Be Too Offensive In 2017

4. "You Go First" - Timesplitters: Future Perfect

(17:44 on the above video)

At the time: Having decided to explore a zombie-infested mansion together, main-man Cortez and wannabe Harley Quinn/cheerleader archetype Jo Beth team up, only to come up against a ladder leading down to what sounds like a huge horde of the undead. "You go first" says Jo Beth, leading to Cortez looking directly at her skirt, before agreeing.

A harmless acknowledgment on behalf of the developers saying, "We know, this is ridiculous clothing for a zombie-hunt", or something else entirely?

Now: There's a completely other way to take this scene - one that makes more sense, when you consider just how much Free Radical changed Jo Beth's design from Timesplitters 2 to Future Perfect - which is to say, a character that was a fairly harmless 'bookworm' had her boobs blown up, was given a shirt with 'SLUT' written across the front, some actual Dead or Alive-style boob-jiggle physics and a tiny skirt barely held together with a loose belt.

Viewing the character through the lens of eye candy and hyper sexualisation, it's more likely the 'gag' here is Cortez eyeing up Beth's skirt, acknowledging that if he goes down the ladder first, he can glare up it. Brilliant.
