10 Best Bloodborne Bosses
3. Ludwig
Ludwig is a disgusting cross between a horse, man and beast. With a second head lined with eyes and teeth and limbs sticking out from every side of his grotesque body. Fighting this monster in an underground corpse pile is fittingly gross and scary. Ludwig was once the greatest hunter of them all and to see how far he has fallen is a tragic sight indeed.
There are two very different phases in the fight against Ludwig. Ludwig, The Accursed is the pinnacle of any beast in the world of Bloodborne. Lunging at the hunter with such ferocity that it becomes a mountain of a task to get out of the way. In succeeding, the player will turn around to see his many limbed body slashing at them in all directions. If they manage to dodge this attack, they better prepare for his leap upwards as he crawls on the ceiling and lands right on the player with an infuriating one-hit kill.
Whittling this beast down is hard, but once the player gets the monster to half health, something remarkable happens…
One of the greatest cut scenes in any of the Souls games triggers, and Ludwig rises to his feet, remembering the man he uses to be as he wields The Holy Moonlight Sword, a weapon every Souls fan will be familiar with.
Ludwig, The Holy Blade is such a different fight to Ludwig, The Accursed, but no less difficult. Defeating the beast that once was Ludwig is really, really tough. But vanquishing this foe is one of the most satisfying experiences in the game and the player is rewarded with one of the coolest weapons in the series.
