8. Thardus - Metroid Prime
As varied as the bosses' strategies are in the Metroid series, it usually boils down to Samus blasting them in their weak point. This is a problem when facing Thardus in Metroid Prime since he is literally a bunch of rocks. Worse still, his vulnerable spot keeps changing places.
The only way to defeat this boulder-built baddie is to use the Thermal Visor to locate his weak spot, shatter it with a missile or your beam weapon, and then blast the Core within. Thardus will then shift the Core to a different part of his body but you can locate it again with the Thermal Visor.
Sadly, this is easier said than done. This towering titan regularly disables your visor, blinding you. You can never rest for too long since Thardus constantly hurl rocks at you, generates shockwaves, and fires an Ultrafrigid Beam that freezes you solid. However, his main form of attack is to roll into a ball and charge into you.
As difficult as this battle is, it's totally worth it since Thardus' defeat rewards you with the Spider Ball, allowing you to magnetise to rails and explore the world even further.
