10 Best Boss Battles In Metroid History

7. Rundas - Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

In Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, an evil clone of Samus (uncreatively dubbed Dark Samus) jeopardises your mission by possessing your comrades. When she takes over the body of the bounty hunter, Rundas, you have no choice but to take him down.

Rundas is a cryo-manipulator, meaning he relies on ice-based attacks. Throughout the bout, he shoots frostbeams, forms icebergs to hide behind, and immobilises you with ice bursts.

The coolest thing about Rundas (no pun intended) is how he manoeuvres around the room at superspeed on an ice slide, making him very tricky to lock onto. (Also, it's impossible not to think of Frozone from The Incredibles when he does this.)

Since Rundas is coated in ice armour, your attacks against him aren't particularly effective. You need to get close enough to him to rip off his armour with the Grapple Lasso so you can blast at him to your heart's content.

Because of his swiftness and his limited vulnerability, you need to be constantly alert. This is the best kind of fight as it keeps the player on their toes from start to finish.
