10 Best Castlevania Games

4. Castlevania Dracula X: Rondo Of Blood

More familiar to Western gamers as Dracula X (or as the Dracula X Chronicles PSP remake), Rondo of Blood introduced fan-favourite protagonist Richter Belmont to Castlevania players. He was fulfilling the Belmont clan's existence by going after Dracula, but the personal vendetta of his lover Annette being abducted by big Vlad gave him an extra urge to bring Dracula to justice.

Rondo built on previous entries' ideas like introducing more branching paths that offered increased choice and replay value to players. Some of the series' most iconic music can be found within Rondo of Blood, and its challenging gameplay make this yet another classic Castlevania titles you must play.

The main thing against Rondo of Blood is simply that the best version of the game was only available on the TurboGrafx-16 in Japan, and the SNES port (Dracula X) released in the West is considered a much poorer version of the game.

It offered only two of the four branching paths to players, and whilst the action combat was still very tight and the backgrounds were better in the SNES version, many fans would argue the definitive experience is to be found on the PC Engine version of the game.
