"Whoever controls Halo controls the fate of the universe." Captain Keyes is the embodiment of science-fiction and military-fiction that makes Halo so dynamic. The character ties together the 'treknobabble' that we often hear, and the real world difficulties of fighting a superior enemy. But Keyes isn't just a man of war. A nice touch to Keyes is his commitment to duty, and we learn much more about him from others. Keyes is of course the father of Miranda Keyes, who aides the Chief and Cortana throughout Halo 2 and 3. The relationship between the two is never fully explored, but we do know that Catherine Halsey (remember her?), is her mother and that they didn't get on. Halo seems more like a complicated soap with every game. It's safe to say that Keyes is dead and gone. The Chief punched him in the face when he started to (literally) turn green.
