Knight Artorias is fast. He can do a full front flip and bring down his greatsword onto your perplexed self in the blink of an eye.

The pure aggression of this boss, no doubt linked to the Abyss manifesting inside him, makes him one of the most dangerous bosses in the first game.

His combos are unpredictable and can kill you in one go if you’re not careful, whereas the damage you do to him is normally pretty pitiful unless you’re at a very, very high level before facing him.

All the bosses want you dead but the desire Artorias shows to kill you is terrifying, and his acrobatics would land him a comfortable Gold at the Olympics.

This is a fight all about dodging, timing and countering – which is made extra tough in the original Dark Souls, a game in which the rolling isn’t as fast or as controllable as it is in its sequels.
