10 Best Directed Video Game Cutscenes Ever

3. Peter's Apartment - Marvel's Spider Man

One of the most ridiculous facts in history is that it took someone 14 years to make another good Spider-Man game. The web heads most recent outing on the PS4 proved that even with Marvels' cinematic universe dominating cinemas everywhere, there is still room for everybody's favourite friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man.

The very first scene of the game does a better job than most movies do in two hours when it comes to establishing who Peter Parker is. The camera pans along an orgy of evidence that shows newspaper clippings, photographs, and dismantled web shooters as Peter gets up for a regular day. The first glimpse of Peter isn't amazing or spectacular. The apartment is messy, the suit stinks, and the rent is due.

Then when Spider-Man leaps out the window, swings through New York in one beautiful long shot, and the game suddenly hands control over to the player it all feels so natural.

As if all this time they were Peter, and now it's time to thwip their wrists out and soar through the New York skyline for the first time in 14 years.
