10 Best Final Bosses In Resident Evil History
8. Javier Hidalgo - Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles
This may not be the best fight on the list, but it's definitely has the best elevator pitch. To wit: "Leon Kennedy fights a mutated kaiju drug dealer with the help of said drug dealer's estranged, pyrokinetic daughter".
That's not to say the fight doesn't warrant its inclusion here through its own merits, of course. The final boss of the light-gun spin-off Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles, Javier is the embodiment of the maximalist approach that typeified Resi games through the mid-noughties/early-tens.
There's no Silent Hill-esque deeper meaning to his design, or any real strategy required when fighting him beyond "Shoot him in the face with enough firepower to exceed most countries' military budgets".
Some may view that as disappointing, but this approach works perfectly for Darkside Chronicles. Light-gun games are designed as spectacles first and foremost, allowing the player to blast their way through their very own action movie, and in that regard the fight against the stories-tall Javier Hidalgo is a success.
And again, it features a human-turned-kaiju vs. his flame-throwing teenage daughter. Genius.
