8. Blair Witch
The Blair Witch Project Game was somewhat crushed underneath the hype of Keanu Reeves joining Cyberpunk, but it already seems massively appealing to niche horror fans.
Based on the classic indie film (or potentially the reboot), the game is being developed by Bloober, the guys behind Layers Of Fear, which honestly is enough for fans of the creeper genre to be right on board with it. Layers Of Fear is one of the most spine tingling games in recent years, with the death animations in the sequel being particularly horrific.
It’s not a triple A studio by any means, but the games can generate a hardcore fanbase if the community latches onto them. With name recognition of The Blair Witch Project, the game already has a foot in the door there.
It’s not a retelling of the film but (much like Cyberpunk) uses the existing lore to frame a new narrative around it. It looks pant-messingly terrifying so far too; if it’s possible, Bloober have cranked up the intensity even more than in Layers of Fear.
