10 Best Games Announced At E3 2019

7. Bleeding Edge

Elden Ring
Ninja Theory

One of the worst-kept secrets going into E3 was that Ninja Theory was going to be announcing Bleeding Edge, their first new IP since being acquired by Microsoft.

The game looks quite chaotic, but in a very different manner to Ninja Theory’s previous game, Hellblade. Putting you in the mind of troubled warrior Senua, Hellblade focused on internal chaos, as players helped the protagonist battle her inner demons.

Bleeding Edge, though, has an outward manic attitude. To be frank, it looks like big, dumb fun. There’s nothing especially wrong with that, especially considering it’s a 4v4 melee combat game that seems determined never to let you catch your breath.

Still, it feels like quite the departure. Still, Hellblade managed to kick it with the big guns when it was essentially an indie game, so the studio deserves the benefit of the doubt.

However, having done so well with single player focus and an intense, detailed story last time, this change of pace seems like a hell of a risk which could stall their momentum.

Hopefully though, Ninja Theory and Bleeding Edge can deliver; Microsoft is due a break this gen by now.
