10 Best Games Announced At E3 2019
5. Cris Tales
Cris Tales seems to have been lost in the shuffle of announcements so far, and it’s a real shame because the game looks gorgeous, ingenious and (a bit of a rarity these days) a genuinely new idea.
Like Octopath Traveler last year, Cris Tales has sleeper hit potential written all over it, and is a homage to the classic JRPG style of gameplay. The game sees you play in the past, present and future all at once, shaping and then benefiting from the world around you.
Playing as Crissbell, the time warp system allows you to seamlessly move between different periods of her life. We only have a minute-long reveal trailer to go off right now, so we don’t know exactly how this time travel will influence the turn-based combat system.
What we do know though, is that the game runs about 20 hours long, and every single frame has been hand drawn. That’s some serious dedication to the craft, and it looks to have paid off big time.
Developed by Dreams Unincorporated and published by Modius Games, Cris Tales is launching on PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PC in 2020, so it’s covering all the bases.
