10 Best Gaming Soundtracks Of 2012

2. Assassin's Creed III

Assassins Creed 3 My personal Game of the Year, Assassin's Creed III revolutionised the ageing series - breathing new life into a fading flame. The world was spectacular, just as its natural ability to story-tell. Just as its predecessors, the title excelled. However, the soundtracks of the Assassin's Creed games are legendary - with ACII and Revelations being among the best created. So, chapter three had a reputation to uphold, right? With the absence of Jesper Kyd for this score, many thought so. Many thought that his partner for Revelations, Lorne Balfe, could not produce the same level work that Kyd had. But, the acclaimed Grammy Award winner did. He brought the colonial essence of Revolutionary America to the track, inspiring through many numbers including Fight Club and simply the main theme. For that is what this score does. It inspires. The sound of war is always present but lingers with adventure, excitement, and pure adrenaline. The native roots of the protagonist, Connor, lies deep in each of the tracks, and delves into the passion and heritage associated with it. And not forgetting Fight Club, oh never forgetting that one! Tracks such as this only appear in Last of the Mohicans, Sherlock Holmes, and almost every movie ever set on Irish/Scottish lands. It makes you want to go straight to the local, and cause havoc. Simply, it's a score you can just listen to, with no need to play the game. I think that's the best compliment I can give to Balfe, and I hope he would welcome it. If it was any other year, this would be number one, definitely, but, I managed to stumble upon another title; perhaps just as big as ACIII. Though it may have dissapointed some, just like Connor above, it didn't disappoint me. And to think of it; neither did its soundtrack. http://youtu.be/_dsA5jiukog
