4. Charizard

This was certainly a close one. Squirtle and Bulbasaur are cool and all, but can they really beat fire?

Out of all three of Charmander's states, Charizard is easily the coolest because he literally becomes a massive fire-breathing dragon. This popularity has translated into anime too, as Charizard played an extremely important role as one of Ash's main Pokémon for a huge part of the show. Their relationship was one of the best parts of the show for a while, which made the character even more beloved.

As Charmander's most powerful evolution, Charizard also has a great range of extremely powerful Fire abilities. Charizard also uniquely gets the ability to fly because of his evolution, which instantly makes him cooler than Blastoise and Venusaur, who don't get such a drastic change.

Charizard is just one of the best Pokémon out there, in both abilities and character.
