10 Best Local Multiplayer Video Games Of The Decade
8. Borderlands 2
Borderlands is just plain-shootin’ good fun. Playing through with friends quite literally doubles this. The game becomes noticeably more difficult and hectic the more players join the fray. It offers two-player split screen co-op on consoles with the enemies scaling to the level of the highest player. To offset this, the more players in the game, the better loot that drops!
With players able to choose a different hero to play as, with their own unique abilities, you can work together with your friends to conquer this frantic, fast-paced action game with deep, loot-based shooter RPG elements.
Players also share loot, with each player receiving rewards for completing quests. Aside from the UI being a little difficult to read on a small screen, splitscreen co-op is by far the most fun way to enjoy Borderlands 2.
With the more recent release of the Handsome Collection in 2015 on the Xbox One and PS4, players can now enjoy up to 4-player splitscreen co-op. With upgraded graphics and each window running at 60fps, co-op Borderlands is back and it is better than ever.
