10 Best Looking Video Games Of The Generation (So Far)
6. Horizon: Zero Dawn
It's fair to say that Guerrilla Games shocked the world with Horizon: Zero Dawn. The Sony-owned studio that had made nothing but first-person shooters since it was founded in 2000 put out one of the best third-person open-world RPG's of the generation. Who would've thunk it?
The gaming industry is often criticised for not taking risks with new IP's and for being unwilling to make anything weird, but Guerrilla did just that with Horizon: Zero Dawn. The game was set in the far-flung future in which tribes inhabit small pockets of a world overrun with dangerous man-made animals.
If you didn't play the game for some reason, and the picture above doesn't quite sell it, Horizon: Zero Dawn was not only a great game to play but also one of the generation's very best in terms of graphics. It featured a gorgeous world of flora and fauna, mountains and valleys, lakes and settlements, all buttressed by the stunning and somewhat terrifying machines that stalk the land.
Sunrise and sunset in Horizon were genuinely jaw-dropping, especially as you're in the midst of a fight with a Glinthawk or riding down a hillside on a Strider. Horizon: Zero Dawn was the whole package.
