10 Best Nintendo 3DS Games (That Nobody Played)

5. 7th Dragon III Code: VFD

There are many ways to ensure a game fails to sell. You can push it out the door with absolutely no marketing. You can release it alongside an immeasurably more established franchise. Or you can, in the words of Apu Nahasapeemapetilon, give it a name that no-one could possibly like!

Or you could do all three, completing a morbid hat-trick of marketing failures that makes us think this game was designed as a money-making flop, a la The Producers.

Released a few days before Monster Hunter Generations stole its thunder, the ludicrously titled 7th Dragon III Code: VFD was the first entry in the obscure JRPG series to be released in the west. Unfortunately, SEGA did the absolute bare minimum to market it, meaning that it's western debut came and went with all the impact of a squeaky fart in a football stadium.

VFD deserved so much more. A staggeringly deep combat system, great writing and one of the best soundtracks on the 3DS made this a stand-out entry in the console's bulging catalogue of great JRPGs, and in a just world this would be part of every JRPG fan's collection.
