10 Best No.5's In Gaming History
4. Metal Gear Solid V
Another game, another set of elephants to shoo away before we get to the good stuff. Yes, Metal Gear Solid V's ending sucks, its boss fights are among the worst in the series' history, and its treatment of female mercenary Quiet is utterly cringe-inducing.
Yet even in spite of all that, this is still the greatest stealth game ever made.
After the relentlessly linear Metal Gear Solid IV, revered designer and Metal Gear kingpin Hideo Kojima upended the rules of what a Metal Gear game could be. The end result was an open-world sandbox that, years after its release, is still an utter joy to play in.
MGSV gives you the greatest toolkit in gaming, and the freedom to use it however you like. This is a game where you can knock out the world's greatest sniper by ordering a supply crate to be airdropped on their head; where you can airlift a donkey and keep it as a pet; where, instead of assassinating a target, you can capture him, load him up on a horse, and ride through a hail of gunfire while Take on Me plays in the background.
Metal Gear Solid V sheds the stuffy nature of stealth games past, and the end result is one of the most outright fun video games ever made.
