3. Kyle Katarn

Kyle Katarn's tale could easily have provided something of a blueprint for the player's story in Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic or for Finn's in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Having defected to the Rebel Alliance having served as an Imperial Stormtrooper, Katarn went on to find he had Force sensitivity and served under the New Jedi Order.

Kyle Katarn is a good guy through-and-through. His time serving the Empire gave him all the cause needed to know that defection was the right course of action and his determination to rewrite his life alongside the Rebel Alliance is admirable.

The discovery of his Force sensitivity was a great progression for a hero who had gone from strength to strength, even if the struggles he had with the Dark Side leaned a little too much on familiar ground. Nevertheless, Katarn was an impressive hero for the Rebel Alliance and a character that players came to enjoy spending time with in several games.
