10 Best Pokémon To Beat Generation 1
2. Abra/Kadabra/Alakazam
Type(s): Psychic.
Location(s): Routes 24 and 25, Rocket Game Corner (Abra), Cerulean Cave (Kadabra).
While Abra can be one of the hardest Pokémon to catch and train initially, the payoff given by Alakazam makes it well worth it. Catching an Abra can be a difficult task due to the only move Abra has access to being ‘Teleport’, which causes the wild Abra to flee the battle. Abra also doesn’t learn any moves by level up. This means you will have to train Abra by switching or with the Exp. Share (called the Exp. All in Generation 1).
At level 16, Abra evolves into a Kadabra. At this point, there is no reason not to instantly evolve Kadabra into an Alakazam, due to both Pokémon having identical level up moves. Evolving Kadabra is achieved via trading the Pokémon.
Once Kadabra evolves into Alakazam, the Pokémon’s already strong stats get increased. Alakazam has a Special stat of 135, the second highest in the game behind Mewtwo’s 154, and a high speed stat of 120. Gaining access to ‘Psychic’ by level up gives Alakazam the perfect move to make use of its Special stat. Alakazam’s Psychic typing also gives it an incredible advantage, due to it only being weak to Bug type moves in Generation 1.
