10 Best Resident Evil Games You Didn't Play
7. Resident Evil Dead Aim
There’s something about Resident Evil titles and ships it seems as so many of the games have you exploring big, empty boats full of nasty monsters. The inescapable nature of being stuck out at sea just speaks to our primal fears.
When it comes to nautical entries, Resident Evil Dead Aim is certainly an overlooked case. The Spencer Rain is an Umbrella-owned cruise liner that is sent out to international waters to conduct auctions on biological weapons. Bruce McGivern arrives to kick butt and look like the weirdest Brad Pitt wannabe ever whilst doing it.
Dead Aim is part of the line of spinoffs known as the “Gun Survivor” series which adopted a first person perspective before Resident Evil 7 made it cool. What makes Dead Aim incredibly unique however is that it changes this based on player action, with exploration of the ship being in third person that swaps to first when the player pulls up their weapon.
It makes for a truly interesting change pace; marrying slow exploration and higher octane action than most early RE titles.
The early 00s in gaming was a period of trial and error and the Resident Evil series has many of these kinds of experiments. Dead Aim may not be as good as any mainline entry, but its unique playstyle has something to offer.
