10 Best Resident Evil Games You Didn't Play
2. Resident Evil Deadly Silence
In 2002, just six years after its debut, the original Resident Evil received its much loved remake. For context, that’s like if Resident Evil 7 was remade next year. This reimagining totally outdid the original in almost every way. For the series 10th anniversary however, Capcom elected to celebrate the 1996 classic by releasing it one final time.
Even though the hardware limitations caused Capcom to pull the plug on the GameBoy Color port of Resident Evil, the idea wasn’t dead for all that long. When the Nintendo DS came along, Capcom finally had their chance to make Resident Evil a portable commodity.
Deadly Silence contains a new mode that puts its own spin on the game, including first person knife battles, touch-control puzzles and even uses the console microphone for a bizarre CPR minigame.
Furthermore, it brought quality of life changes from the remake such as the 180 degree quick-turn and the ability to reload on the fly back into this original version.
If that all sounds like too much change, an untouched 1996 classic version is also an option and there is nothing sweeter than being able to take Chris and Jill’s classic adventure on the go on the train, on a plane, on the toilet, or in your secret underground lab.
