10 Best RPGs Of 2018
4. Xenoblade Chronicles II: Torna The Golden Country
Officially an expansion to the 2017 Switch JRPG, Xenoblade Chronicles II: Torna The Golden Country is a perfect continuation of the base game (that also got its own standalone release).
Despite a slight reduction in locales to visit, characters to meet and tasks to complete, Torna The Golden Country succeeds in being a more impactful story experience than its predecessor. New players could pick up Torna without playing the base game, but exploring the events and outcomes of the Aegis War will likely be more rewarding if you already have some experience of Xenoblade II.
That said, there's so much more of the same quality content here from Monolith Soft as they say goodbye to the world of Alrest. Monolith Soft have streamlined several of their complex battle systems from the base game in order to allow players to hot-switch for unique chaining attacks and abilities, and there's now camps across the world for you to rest at to craft items or talk to your party members to learn new things about your journey.
Basically, Torna The Golden Country is a distillation of all the best parts of Xenoblade II alongside some new systems that make for a streamlined, shorter and smarter RPG experience.
