10 Best Set Pieces In Uncharted History

8. Sinking Cruise (Uncharted 3)

Despite not really having any reason to be there, the sinking cruise sequence in Uncharted 3 is still one of the most technically impressive moments in the game.

It was at this point in the Uncharted franchise where Naughty Dog started prioritising the set pieces over gameplay. This is most evident when Nate gets involved with a band of pirates for basically no reason, and learns absolutely nothing about his enemies in the process. The point was to have a huge boat sink, and have an elaborately awesome set-piece.

In this scene’s defense, the whole sequence is incredible. Watching as the cruise liner sinks and starts rotating as water spills in is absolutely jaw dropping, feeling like a scene right out of Titanic. It’s a shame that the gameplay and level of control doesn’t quite live up to the set dressing, as all Nate can really do is climb in the direction he’s told.

Still amazing scenery though.
