10 Best Set Pieces In Uncharted History
3. Helicopter Chase (Uncharted 2)
Although many of the action packed sequences in the Uncharted series come from the end of previous events, this sequence - where Nate and Chloe are chased by a helicopter through a falling building - comes out of nowhere. One minute the player is running along a bridge and then the next they’re under heavy fire from a helicopter. It’s brilliant.
Of course, surprise isn’t one of the only factors that makes this moment great. The relatively small scale of this set piece (at least when compared to the rest of this list) makes it even more impressive that it feels so bombastic and fully-fledged.
Gameplay also gives a lot of room for control as the player has to fight off waves of mercenaries whilst escaping. Finally getting to take on the helicopter later in the chapter is also as cathartic as you’d expect.
Despite not being the biggest set piece in the game, Uncharted 2’s helicopter chase is still one of the most memorable sequences in the series.
