10 Best Star Wars Video Game Heroes Ranked Worst To Best

1. Kyle Katarn - Star Wars: Jedi Knight

Best Star Wars Game Characters
LucasArts

The original Star Wars game hero boasts an incredible story of going from working for the Empire, to becoming a smuggler, to finding his way as a Jedi Knight.

Renowned for his leading role in the Star Wars: Jedi Knight series, Kyle Katarn remains a highly praised character despite having not appeared in anything for two decades and being removed from official continuity with Disney's acquisition of Lucasfilm in 2012.

Starting off as an Imperial officer, Katarn changes his tune after discovering the Empire were responsible for the death of his father. After a run as a mercenary, he finds his way into the Jedi life, taking the fight to a selection of sinister Dark Jedi and even succumbing to the dark side himself at one point.

Functioning almost as a greatest-hits collection of thrilling Star Wars concepts and plotlines, Katarn's wild journey was a huge hit with gamers back in the '90s. The last time he was spotted was in 2003's Star Wars: Jedi Academy, where he was no longer even a player character, and had instead taken on the role of mentor to a new central protagonist.

With his dramatic backstory, multifaceted personality, and entertaining contributions to the expanded universe, Katarn remains a prime example of how to neatly tie a video game hero into the franchise at large.
