10 Best Star Wars Villains Who Debuted In Video Games
4. Jerec - Star Wars: Jedi Knight - Dark Forces II)
The era of FMV in games is generally looked at as an embarrassment nowadays - not surprising, considering most FMVs consisted of bad actors dealing with worse scripts - but there were the occasional bright spots. Case in point: Jedi Knight's Jerec and his band of merry miscreants.
Jerec - the bald bloke with the questionable mouth tattoos - played the role of antagonist in Kyle Katarn's maiden Jedi adventure, and actor Christopher Neam clearly had the time of his life playing the part. Taking a cue from the legendary Raul Julia's approach to playing M. Bison in the Street Fighter movie, Neam spends every iota of screen time chewing through the scenery (his delivery of the line "Excellent, 8T88!" - where he somehow manages to place the emphasis on every single syllable - has lived rent-free in this writer's head for years).
Jerec is also ably supported by his followers, a group of Dark Jedi who take their boss' lead when it comes to loving life on the Dark Side. Each member is a one-note villain, but they each do a lot with their particular note. Picks of the bunch have to be Boc - the answer to the question "What if Joker was a Twi'lek?" - and Maw, manages to be an evil dude even after being reduced to half the man he used to be (and he did it 15 years before Darth Maul).
Jedi Knight's villains may be cartoonishly evil, but they're entertaining with it. Sometimes, that's all you want from a bad guy.
