10 Best Stories That ONLY Work As Video Games

4. Mass Effect 2

You know what, let's keep to the subject of choice by talking about one of the biggest triple-A games ever to have explored such an idea to its fullest.

Now, Mass Effect might feel like an unconventional choice for this list, as the story of a space commander battling against alien forces is hardly something cinema goers or avid readers are unfamiliar with. But Mass Effect 2 gives you something genuinely unique to the video game medium, and that's (again) choice.

Throughout the game, you (as Commander Shepard) venture around the universe, building up a team of allies to battle against the Collectors. You build your team and make choices that can strengthen or worsen your relationship with them. Ultimately, you descend upon the Collectors base, and your crew will live or die based on the decisions you've made and relationships you've built.

The choice-based gameplay here don't just give you options; it gives you responsibilities. You feel the weight of Commander Shepard's role as the lives of your comrades fall upon you. Of course, it's all well and good to watch a movie where someone else has that kind of pressure, but genuinely experiencing it is what makes this one best suited for gaming.
