Mario debuted in the 1981 game, Donkey Kong. This character is considered a prototype Mario since he has some key differences. Instead of a plumber, he is a carpenter. Also, his original name was Jumpman and his love interest was Pauline, not Peach.

Because he looks like Mario, surely it has to be the same character, right? But what if Jumpman is actually Mario's dad?
