10 Best Super Nintendo Soundtracks

6. Super Mario World One of the most critically and commercially successful games of all time, Super Mario World was scored by a delightful soundtrack. The music, composed by Koji Kondo, was written entirely on an electronic keyboard. Kondo does an excellent job of capturing the lighthearted, bouncing spirit of Mario, while highlighting the traits of each level. Most of the songs are variations on a similar melody. While played normally on some levels, this melody is, at times, slowed down or sped up to great effect. In caverns this melody is given a slow echoing effect, while the underwater levels feature a version with a wave-like pattern. Fortresses and haunted houses feature ominous music. While it may be a more simplistic soundtrack than many other selections, Kondo's pieces accomplish precisely what they need to, bringing energy and capturing the moments. The music is as memorable as the game itself, forever burning itself into your memory.
