10 Best Synthwave Video Games You Need To Play

7. Furi

Pardon the lack of finesse in the upcoming statement, but Furi is an absolute banger of a game.

Beautifully looking yet somewhat minimal in style, it's paired with a fantastic selection of songs from some of the top synthwave artists going: Carpenter Brut, Danger, Waveshaper, Scattle and many more.

Essentially a boss rush broken up with passage traversal to each one, Furi tells the story of an unnamed prisoner fighting through a multi-level space penal colony to reach the earth, and ultimately freedom. Guided by an enigmatic narrator wearing a bunny helmet, the prisoner must fight his way through a dozen or so bosses to reach either freedom or revenge, depending on how you play.

Each artist has written original tracks for the game, be it for the mellow level transitions, or the frenetic, many-stage boss fights. It's beautifully varied, as just like the bosses, no two tracks are the same.

If you haven't checked out Furi, you owe it to yourself to do so. Especially if you're a fan of any of the aforementioned artists.
