An internet phenomenon that has manifested into the nightmares of a whole generation, Slender: The Arrival was practically made for teen horror audiences.

Developed by Blue Island Studios and initially releasing in 2013, The Arrival is the full version of the viral free-to-play hit Slender: The Eight Pages. Like the latter project, this title also sees players cautiously fumble around dark, claustrophobic environments in search of a certain number of objects needed to exit the level.

Of course, players won’t be alone in these levels either; they’ll be under the constant watch of the eponymous long-limbed figure, who’s also brought along some new friends with him this time, too, to make your life even more stressful.

Praised for its highly effective atmosphere but criticised for its repetitive and somewhat frustrating gameplay loop, Slender: The Arrival taps into many of the tropes of modern teen horror that has populated the genre.

From creepy drawings scrawled on walls to possessed children with plenty of jump scares thrown in for good measure, too, this game manages to embody everything that’s made these types of games tremendously popular with young audiences and horror fans alike..
