10 Best Vampire Video Games EVER
5. BloodRayne 2
BloodRayne was released in 2002 to generally favorable reviews, and immediately became a big hit with fans. Set in the 1930's, the combat, atmosphere, and appealing lead character made the franchise an exciting new IP.
18 months later, a sequel arrived that did what it should: improving on the original entry and virtually every way. Updating the story and moving it to modern times, Rayne targets her vampiric father Kagan for the murder of her mother. Kagan's offspring have formed their own cult that is set on preventing her from achieving this goal.
If this sounds shallow, it's because it is. BloodRayne knows what it is: it's a bit vapid, and isn't looking to write the next great vampire story. The game has serviceable, fun combat, tons of gore, and surprisingly solid visuals even today.
BloodRayne 2 is the gaming equivalent of a Summer action flick. It doesn't want to waste your time with a complex narrative. It's too busy dazzling you with excellent fight scenes and enjoyable destructible environments and varied set pieces. BloodRayne embraces the schlocky horror aspect of vampire stories to its utmost.
